The Southeastern Citadel of Ioannina Castle, called its Kale (Inner Fortress), served as a citadel during the byzantine period and as the administrative and military center of Ioannina during the Ottoman times. Some of the most impressive monuments here are the Fethiye Mosque and Ali Pasha Tomb.
